Guidance for Elected Representatives asked to validate identities for an Electoral Identity card.
The Electoral Office new service for online applications for Electoral Identity cards is available at www.eoni.org.uk/ID-card
As part of the service you, as an Elected Representative, may be asked to confirm an applicant's identity for an Electoral Identity card. If so, you will receive an email with a link from the Electoral Office (NoReply@eoni.org.uk) to your official email address.
In verifying the applicant’s identity you will need to take the same steps to ensure the elector’s identity is true and correct as you would do now - but instead of completing a paper form you will complete an online form instead. In completing the online form you will need to provide the following information:
- Your name
- Your Mobile phone number (to which we will send a PIN to validate your completion of the form)
- Your Digital Registration Number (DRN) (if you do not know your DRN please visit www.eoni.org.uk/am-i-registered)
The applicant will also need to provide you with the first 4 characters of their National Insurance Number (NINO) as part of the verification process.
Links to video guidance and paper guidance are shown below. Please note the information used in the video and paper guidance is for illustrative purposes only.
