The Electoral Identity Card is solely for electors who have not got any of the accepted forms of photographic voter identification. Visit our frequently asked questions on the Electoral Identity Card here.
Applicants must be listed on the Electoral Register to get a card. They can apply online for an Electoral Identity Card at www.eoni.org.uk/id-card. Individuals can select an elected representative to validate their identity as part of the online application process or they can upload an image of a relevant document.
If an applicant is unable to use the online application, they can contact us for a paper application.
A video is available which will provide step-by-step instructions on what you need to do to validate an Electoral identity card application. It is an easy online form to complete. You will need to provide your:
- Full name
- Mobile phone number
- DRN
We will use your mobile phone number as a validation for the completion of the online form. Once you enter your mobile phone number, a PIN will be sent to that number. You will need to input the PIN into the online form.
You will then need to confirm the identity of the applicant and as part of this, they will need to provide you with the first four characters of their National Insurance Number (NINO).
Once you complete the declaration, you can then submit the form to us.
You must take the appropriate steps to ensure the elector’s identity is true and correct.
We recommend you see the applicant face to face – either in person or by video call.
The elected representative selected by the elector must be the person to validate the elector’s identity. You cannot pass this responsibility on to anyone else. You also should not share the applicant’s data with anyone else.
No, the email address must be an official email address. We can only accept NI Assembly, UK Parliament and Council email addresses.
The elector would need to submit a new application.
Try in a different browser. If it still does not work contact us.
If the 14 day deadline is missed, the elector would need to submit a new application. They will be notified at the end of the 14 day period that their application had been rejected as their chosen elected representative had not verified their identity.
