The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) gives people the right to request information from public authorities. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland is one of the public bodies covered by the Act.
The Publication Scheme
The Publication Scheme lists the information available from the Electoral Office. Most of the information is available free of charge (apart from the Electoral Register), although there may be a charge to cover the cost of printing and postage for information provided in paper format.
Making a request for information
Any request for information must be made in writing (including e-mail). It must relate to information that the Electoral Office holds. Requests will normally take 20 working days to process and will take longer during an election period. Requests can also take longer if clarification is needed and we will inform the applicant if this is the case.
