Elections to the UK Parliament
 
Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected to the House of Commons. There are 18 elected MPs in Northern Ireland, each representing one of the 18 parliamentary constituencies. A list of Northern Ireland constituencies is available on the Electoral Areas page.
 
Elections to the UK Parliament are held every five years on the first Thursday in May. The next election is scheduled to take place in 2020.

Elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly
 
There are 90 elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). Five MLAs represent each of the 18 constituencies in Northern Ireland.
 
Elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly are held every five years on the first Thursday in May. The next election is scheduled to take place in 2021.

Elections to the European Parliament
 
There are three elected Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) representing the Northern Ireland region.
 
Elections to the European Parliament are held every five years. The next election is due to be held in 2019.

Elections to local councils
 
Council areas are split into District Electoral Areas (DEAs), and several Councillors are elected for each DEA. Elections to local councils are normally held every four years, usually on the first Thursday in May. The next elections are scheduled to take place in 2019.
