'INDEPENDENCE DAY' SPONSORED WALK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR MACMILLAN
On Sunday 4 July 2010 The Electoral Office for Northern Ireland organised an “Independence Day” 10K Sponsored Walk where 50 participated and all proceeds went to Macmillan Cancer Support. The walk started off at the Bandstand, Broadway along Ballymoney Street out Doury Road towards Carniny onto Cullybackey Road and then to Galgorm returning to Bandstand. The Front Page laid on refreshments for the walkers followed by a Raffle.
The Electoral Office has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as their designated charity from February 2010 to January 2011 and this was one of many events organised.
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support. Macmillan is a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. They also help carers, families and communities, fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres.
Ballymena Electoral Office in conjunction with Macmillan Cancer would like to thank everyone who took part, those who sponsored the walkers and also donated to the raffle - Sally’s Floral Studio, Stubbs Bistro, Shek Hair Group, Boots, McAtamney’s Butchers, Tullyglass Hotel, Candy Cone, Beau Beauty, Maureen’s Burger Bar and also The Front Page who once again gave tremendous support to The Electoral Office in their charity event.
If anyone wishes to donate to MacMillan Cancer Support please contact Ballymena Electoral Office 9044 6600 or Macmillan Cancer Support 9070 8610.
