Fundraising Events 2009
The Electoral Office chose the Alzheimer’s Society as its designated charity in 2011.
TOTAL RAISED: £4604
The Alzheimer’s Society is the leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers in the UK. They:
- Provide direct support for people with dementia and their carers through their national helpline, respite care, day care and financial grants.
- Give information and education to people with dementia, carers and healthcare.
- Raise awareness of dementia to remove the stigma still attached to it.
- Campaign for the rights and welfare of people with dementia and their carers.
- Invest in research into the cause, cure and care of dementia.
- Help over 100,000 people a year through their network of over 260 branches.
By choosing the Alzheimer’s Society as our charity of the year, the Electoral Office will be helping people with dementia and their carers get the support and information they desperately need.
- £100 Helps towards the cost of a bath lift so that a person with dementia can be cared for at home.
- £500 Enables the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline respond to over 40 enquiries.
- £1,000 Helps pay for ten days' work by a post-doctoral research assistant and so helps towards eventually finding a cure for dementia.
- £1,500 Pays for a week of respite care for four people with dementia so that their carers can have a break.
